Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The LSB Compact in Faux Leather

The LSB Compact in Faux Leather

Steadfast continually knocks it out of the park with their new LSB editions. They have been missing something super portable for awhile now and they have answered that call with the Compact Edition. It comes in all sorts of flavors with tons of faux leather options all the way to goatskin and edge-lined.

I received a faux leather edition that’s a beautiful mustard yellow. It feels really smooth to the touch and is pleasant to hold in the hand. The cover has Sola Scripture written in a beautiful gold cursive. The spine has a matching gold with the LSB logo, Holy Bible in the same script, and Steadfast Bibles as the bottom.

There are black head and tail bands as well as a single black double-sided satin bookmark that is thin, but generous in length. The page edges are a gold gilt. This Bible is Smyth-sewn for durability.

I’m impressed they went with a vinyl paste down liner and end sheets in this one. Both are black and it helps the Bible be flexible and hold its shape.

Inside the paper is a 28 gsm. There is definitely some ghosting in the poetry sections, but the paper is quite thin. This Bible features a double-column layout with a line running down the page between each column. If I'm honest, I really dislike lines running down pages in Bibles. I’m kind of surprised they did this, but I suppose it was to pack as much text in as they could since it’s a compact. The type is a generous 8.5 and it’s very readable for the size. Verse numbers are bolded to indicate new paragraphs, but otherwise they are minimized for a more immersive reading experience.

In the back you’ll find table for money, weights, and measures as well as a list of books of the Bible.

All in all, I find this to be a great little compact. I’m not sure if I’d spring for the more expensive bindings given the page ghosting, but the faux leather editions like I have seem like they’d be great carry everywhere Bibles. Certainly they are LSB workhorses.

You can pick up your copy at 316’s website or on Amazon (affiliate).

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this Bible from Steadfast in exchange for a fair and honest review.
