There is nothing nicer than a high quality Bible rebind. Fortunate for Bible enthusiasts, new rebinders are popping up pretty often and their work is getting better and better. Redbird Bibles is a bit newer to the game, but I had been admiring his work and knew I wanted to get ahold of one to check it out. I sent him an ESV Personal Size Reference and asked him to rebind it in my favorite leather. All I can say is, “Wow!” I was not disappointed. Let’s check it out.
The PSR is a nice portable Bible with great cross-reference location. I would call it an ideal rebind candidate if you want an excellent ESV that can go everywhere. Working with Redbird was so easy. He was very accommodating and timely in his responses. He made sure we were very clear on the rebind options and before I knew it, I was in line and waiting for my Bible.
When I received the Bible, I was blown away by his attention to detail. I’ve always loved his logo and he really incorporates it into his business. My Bible was wrapped in card stock and there was a big red bird sticker holding it all together. I loved it! He also included a personal card with a hand written note and that’s only the kind of personal touch you can get from a rebinder. Two thumbs up in the customer service department!
The Bible itself is stunning! I chose golden yellow badalassi with full yapp, which is my favorite leather. The grain is just incredible. The yapp meets and touches. I asked for black perimeter stitching, which really sets this Bible off! Even more, he reinforced and rounded the spine. It just looks so nice!
The spine has five raised ribs and the looling around them in top notch. Even more, I love his spine stamping. The large letters he used for the gold ESV is one of my favorite things about this Bible. It pops and shines! I also love the little bird logo at the bottom.
He dyed the page edges black for me, which really brings the look together. There are three double-sided satin black ribbon bookmarks. I only wanted three if they wouldn’t overlap and he did a great job just fitting them in beside one another. This little Bible is just an incredible, portable package.
His corner work is fantastic. Once again, you only get this kind of craftsmanship from a rebinder. People always ask what people mean about corners. It has to do with the pleats in the corners. Once you see one in person, you will see that it is better than anything any Bible publisher has to offer.
Inside is a black lamb liner that is so soft with black endsheets. I asked for a gold perimeter gilt line and it sits snugly next to the cover. I may have moved it down away from the edge a bit, but I’m being picky there. Stamped in gold in the back is the Redbird Bibles logo and identification.
This Bible is beautiful and Redbird is doing very high quality work. I’m going to use this Bible so much and take it everywhere. I can’t say enough good things. If you’re looking for a great rebinder, I will be quick to recommend Redbird to you. I truly think he’s doing some of the best work in rebinding and I’m very impressed that he’s still so new.
