The Byrd Bound Bibles Review

You have to see this to believe it!

Welcome to Not Another Book or Bible Review—where the reviews are unconventional, unorthodox, and absolutely unbelievable. If video reviews are your thing then jump to the bottom!

A Rebind Like No Other

This is a custom Bible rebind from Byrd Bound Bibles, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a rebind in my life.

I’d been following Byrd Bound on Instagram for a while, admiring his top-tier craftsmanship. So I reached out and pitched a bold idea for a rebind. I asked if he’d be willing to take a chance on me—and on a leather he wasn’t even sure he wanted to work with.

To my surprise and joy, he said yes.

Meet “The Chameleon”

I’m calling this rebind The Chameleon—and once you see it, you’ll understand why.

This Bible is wrapped in Color-Shift Sully goatskin, a durable yet lesser-used goatskin that features bold, vibrant colors and a shimmery finish that literally changes shades as the light hits it. It’s not the softest or plushest leather, but it’s unique, eye-catching, and just plain fun.

Even sitting on my desk, the Bible shifts from rich greens to deep purples. It’s wild. It pops in photographs, it grabs attention in person, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite Bibles I own.

Stunning Craftsmanship

Cael Byrd isn’t just a rebinder—he’s an artist. His attention to detail and craftsmanship blew me away. Here are just a few highlights of his work on this rebind:

Raised hubs: I’m pretty particular about my raised hubs and Cael’s are some of the best I’ve seen. The raised hubs with the tooling around them just pop so hard off that spine! Throw in the beautiful silver stamping on the spine and you will do a double take when seeing this Bible.

Two custom green ribbons that perfectly match the color-shift tones

Beautiful speckling: This is only my second speckled page edge Bible. I love it and Cael did great work making it tie in to the overall theme of the Bible.

Incredible corner work: The corner work on this Bible is just beautiful. You can’t get work like this on a stock Bible. Rebinds may be worth it just for the beautiful corners.

Double perimeter gilt lines: Not only did he give me the double gilt line. He did them in green! This is a touch that only an artist can give. The gilt lines shine with the cover!

Clean edge lining and flawless finishing touches

His logo is stamped inside the cover, and the Bible block itself is the ESV Creeds and Confessions—a fantastic double-column layout with a great font size and a manageable, slim profile.

Why I Love It

This is the kind of Bible I want to hold, to show off, and—most importantly—to read. This is the ESV I reach for over and over again.

I’ve received so many compliments on it. Even in a photo, it stands out. IAnd it all came together because Byrd Bound was willing to take a risk.

He told me he might even start offering this leather as a rebind option going forward, which is amazing news for fellow Bible lovers and collectors.

Final Thoughts

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Byrd Bound Bibles. His craftsmanship is elite. His work is just stunning. And his willingness to work with something new gave me a one-of-a-kind Bible I absolutely treasure.

I’m already dreaming of my next rebind with him.
