The Advent season is almost upon us! I recently preached a sermon about what Advent is and why it can be beneficial to practice it especially in relation to God’s commands for His people in Deuteronomy 6:4-7 (which still applies to us today).
Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

Almost every Sunday I give announcements in our weekly service and pray before our time of giving. After giving announcements, I used to try and find a meaningful Scripture to read that applied to giving and then pray off the top of my head. Lately, I’ve been taking a different approach; I have been writing out my prayer and reading it.
Many Christians haven’t actually read the Bible all the way through. It’s kind of puzzling. We say we believe in Jesus. Jesus is God. The Bible is literally the words of God. Why wouldn’t we want to know what God has said?
Do people have a perfect picture of pastors in their heads? I’m not sure, but I do know that pastors need grace, love, and mercy from their congregation just as much as any member. Congregations expecting perfection from their pastors will be let down.
I’m always looking for new ideas to write about and ultimately want to write about the things people care about from a Christian worldview. If you have something you’d like for me to write about then please head here and send me an e-mail about your idea.
This may sound strange, but Sunday mornings when I drive alone to church are some of my favorite times. It is not that I don’t love my family. I always value time with my family and often my wife and I get to have more pointed, intentional conversation when we are in the car together because our kids are strapped down in car seats. Sunday mornings can be hectic at our house if we’re not careful.
This book may be the best book I will read this year. At 300 pages in small type, it’s intimidating. Don’t let that discourage you. It is so worth your time and effort.
Celebrities are raising their kids gender neutral. It’s a growing trend in celebrity culture, but what does it mean? Apparently, the parents let the kids drive. Kids are allowed to dress how they want, play how they want, and aren’t forced toward gender stereotypes.
As a guy, when I’m married, I don’t get a new name. But my wife did. In taking my name, she got a whole new family and vice versa.
It’s such a great feeling when you know you earned something. It wasn’t just given. You worked hard, spent precious time, and maybe even sweated for it. You want to show it off or talk about it.
If you’ve read my blog, shared a post, or contributed to the conversation then I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you. Every share is a big deal and the amount of readers that visit my site has steadily increased. I’ve always loved writing and when I set out to do this on a consistent basis I didn’t know if anyone would actually read or care. I’ve truly been humbled by the response I’ve received. Thank you.
In college I lived it up. I’m not proud of the things I did and I honestly wish I could do it over and make a lot of changes. I said all the right things and went to all the right Bible studies, but outside of those things, I didn’t look like a Christian. I looked like a major hypocrite.
