Many people talk about wishing they had a genie, but you never really hear people talk about wishing they were a genie…
Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.
All in theology
Many people talk about wishing they had a genie, but you never really hear people talk about wishing they were a genie…
I love Westminster Books. They’re a great store that offers great deals and they’re certainly worthy of support. I love getting to partner with them and highlight awesome things they are selling. It’s Cyber Monday so I want to share with you my top 3 items that I’d grab from them today!
I may be jumping the gun by calling this book an instant classic, but I don't think so. This is a unique and important book for our time. Dane Ortlund’s Gentle and Lowly, I believe, is an instant classic that people will read for years to come.
Telling others about Jesus used to feel like a lot of pressure to me. What if I wasn't convincing enough? What if I didn't make a compelling enough argument? What if I didn't have all the answers? Imagine my relief when I learned that God does the saving and he can use my nervous, stuttering presentation if he wants! This was such a freeing revelation.
As a parent of two little girls who are one and three, I’m a really big fan of coffee. Coffee is like gas for my engine in the mornings. It gets my motor running and ready to face the day. I often try and squeeze a little too much personal time out of the night after the girls are in bed and then I try and wake up early to get a little more. Coffee is like a magic elixir that can bring me from “dead in the bed” to functioning human. It’s truly an amazing gift from the Lord!

I just had seen it highly recommended on various channels I follow so I thought, "Hey, I should really read that." Little did I know I would be entering into a massive, 383 page treatise on mankind. Quite frankly, I'm so glad I did.
One angle I’m sure many believers and unbelievers alike are turning over in their minds is the question, "Where is God in all of this?"Maybe you find yourself asking, "If God is all powerful, why doesn’t he stop this?" Maybe you’re asking, "Why would a loving God allow so many people to die?" Maybe you just wonder, "Is God even real?"
Steven Furtick is an excellent communicator. He’s built a church empire with his “feel good” preaching, attractive worship, and excellent packaging. He even has a degree from my alma mater—The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. By most people’s standards, Furtick is a major success…
One thing I don’t often hear discussed or mentioned very often in church life is the covenants found in the Bible…
There’s a popular song that seems to be everywhere right now called See a Victory by Elevation Worship. When I first heard this song, it struck me funny. While turning it over in my mind it finally dawned on me—this song is the prosperity gospel sung. Prosperity doesn’t have to come in the form of only wealth. Sometimes we see it in health. Sometimes we see it in the thought that everything will go right…
