The Visual Word by Patrick Schreiner
Let’s be honest. The Bible can be hard to understand. It is comprised of different books with different themes that aren’t actually books at all and they’re all written by different people. You’ve got law, history, poetry, letters, etc. It can be confusing, intimidating, and just plain hard.
If only there was something out there that could help us with the big ideas of each book and put it in a format that is easy to navigate with maybe include some sort of visual element to it. If some of these thoughts resonate with you then you are going to be very interested in The Visual Word by Patrick Schreiner. This book is a great resource to help you with the major themes and big pictures of books in the New Testament.
What makes The Visual Word so awesome is that it’s laid out so simply. Each book starts with the big idea and gives you a couple of paragraphs that summarize what’s going on in the book. The adjacent page has illustrations that trace an outline of the book. The next pages take each illustration in the outline and expand them to help you connect the dots and walk away with a solid understanding of that book.
What I love about The Visual Word is how useful it is. This is an excellent resource for preaching and personal Bible study alike. This resource helps give the big picture in a way that’s so easy to understand. That is precisely what makes this book so valuable.
No matter if you’ve been in the Bible for years or you’re a new Christian, we all can use more help in studying the Bible and that’s exactly what The Visual Word brings to the table. You’ll find yourself wishing this book included the Old Testament. The best news is that it’s in the works so the worst thing will be the wait!
