There’s a Lion in my Nativity by Lizzie Laferton and Kim Barnes
It’s no secret that I love every children’s book that The Good Book Company puts out. There’s a Lion in my Nativity is no exception. It’s a beautifully illustrated book and it shares about the true star of Christmas.
This book is softcover so keep that in mind if you have little people who are rough with books (like I do!). I love the illustrations in this book because they use fun and bright colors that are a great attraction to young eyes.
This story focuses on a little girl playing Mary in a Christmas play who is convinced she is the star of the show. She consistently finds things happening in the play that she doesn’t expect and they’re taking center stage! These things represent Jesus and constantly remind us that he’s the star.
The last page connects the items we see to Jesus and shows us the Scripture where they are found. It’s a great story that constantly points our little people to the importance of Jesus at Christmas. As a parent who is trying to do this with his children, I greatly appreciate this resource!
The Good Book Company has such great children’s books because of their emphasis on Jesus and the gospel. I love every one of them as I want my daughters to see Jesus as so much bigger than I can possibly paint him. I am grateful for resources that help me do this. This Christmas season, I highly recommend you include There’s a Lion in my Nativity in your Christmas book rotation. In a world that says Christmas is about us, let’s be faithful to show our children the true meaning of Christmas.
