The 9Marks Church Questions Series Review
I think 9Marks is one of the best organizations for church help. They are regularly putting out articles, podcasts, magazines, and books to help churches, church leaders, and church members answer the question, "How should I think about this?" One of their newest resources is the Church Questions series, which they partnered with Crossway to bring about.
This new series is composed of five small, helpful books that each tackle different questions. They include:
Why Should I Join a Church? by Mark Dever
What if I Don’t Desire to Pray? by John Onwuchekwa
What if I’m Discouraged in My Evangelism? by Isaac Adams
What Should I Do Now that I’m a Christian? by Sam Emadi
How Can I Love Church Members With Different Politics? by Jonathan Leeman and Andy Naselli
I find each of these books to be very helpful in tackling the question it sets out to answer. It is short and concise, which makes it a valuable resource to hand to someone who is struggling with a specific issue. Each book only clocks in at around 50 pages. They are also packed full of features including recommended resources for further reading on a subject and a Scripture Index, which can be really handy to go to the authority of Scripture.
In an age where people seem more drawn to articles than books, I am grateful for the brevity of the books in this series. I could hand this to a church member and they wouldn’t feel intimidated before they ever opened the cover. My hope is that Crossway and 9Marks will continue together to expand this series and that many more questions will be addressed. For now, given the current season, might I recommend starting with How Can I Love Church Members with Different Politics?
