Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

NASB 2020 Prime Large Print Ultrathin Reference

NASB 2020 Prime Large Print Ultrathin Reference

While not completely familiar with the NASB 2020 translation itself, I am very impressed by their new Prime offerings. This is the Lockman Foundation’s journey into the premium Bible world. Their efforts have not disappointed.

The one lackluster feature of these Prime Bibles is the box. I mentioned it in my review of another Prime edition, which you can read here. In summation, the box needs an upgrade to look more premium.

Once you open the box, however, I think you’ll be impressed. I’m reviewing the black Large Print Ultrathin Reference in goatskin. Upon opening the box, I’m hit by the amazing smell of leather. This Bible smells great as funny as that is to say. The goatskin itself is nice and flexible and has a great looking grain! There’s also a nice bit of semi yapp on the cover!

The spine has five raised hubs. In gold are the words, “Holy Bible”, “NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE 2020”, “NASB”, and “Lockman Foundation”. There are black head and tail bands as well as two double-sided satin bookmarks that are nice and wide. One is black and the other red. I’d prefer they be a little longer, but they are really nice. I actually like the bookmarks used on the black Bible better than the ones used on the brown. They look a little more premium even though it’s hard to describe. The page edges are a beautiful red under gold art gilt.

Inside is a gold perimeter gilt line and a black calfskin liner. There are also black vinyl end sheets. There are presentation and family records pages on cardstock.

The design of this Bible is a paradox for me. The layout inside is double column with center column references. Translation notes are separated by a horizontal line and featured at the bottom. I really am not a fan of center column reference Bibles, but I really really like this Bible. It’s hard to explain. It feels good in the hand and the materials are so nice. I just really like this Bible.

The text itself is an 11 point font. It looks great. I’m a major fan of large print and I love how big this text is. The verse numbers are nice and dark. The paper is described as high opacity European paper. It looks good and ghosting is at a minimum. I don’t think it could be more than a 28 gsm though.

In the back is a topical index, book introductions, some helpful charts, as well as full color maps.

All in all, this is a great Bible. If I used the NASB 2020 regularly, this is the Bible I would use. It’s well constructed and well designed. It looks and feels fantastic. I’d highly recommend this Bible to you if you’re interested in a premium NASB 2020.

You can pick up your copy of the Prime Large Print Ultrathin from Lockman or on Amazon. (affiliate)
