The Premier Collection NKJV Personal Size Large Print Reference Bible

At this point I”m comfortable saying that it’s hard to go wrong with a Premier Collection Bible. You get a really, really nice Bible for a great price. The unique thing about the NKJV Personal Size Large Print Reference Bible is that the cross references appear at the end of each verse. This is a really unique way to do it, but it also is really helpful. No more searching to match up the verse with the right cross references. Instead, they’re at the end of each verse. It seems pretty useful!

This Bible comes in a nice brown goatskin. It’s almost tan. The leather feels nice, but is a little ore stiff than I’d expect. I really like the size of this Bible. It’s a bit thicker, but the height and width feel just right. There are five raised hubs on the spine and in gold are the words, “HOLY BIBLE”, “New King James Version”, and “THOMAS NELSON”.

The page edges have a red under gold art gilt and there are three double-sided satin ribbons in brown, red, and light blue. I love the ribbons that Thomas Nelson ribbons and I always think they’re the perfect width and length. Brown head and tail bands round out the exterior.

Inside is a dark brown calfskin liner with matching vinyl end sheets. There’s a gold perimeter gilt line. The Bible is Smyth-sewn and edge-lined for durability.

The paper in the Premier Collection is consistently fantastic. It’s a 36 gsm European Bible Paper. It’s white and very opaque. The text is line matched. The type is a 10.5 point in Thomas Nelson’s NKJV Comfort Print typeface. I love a bigger font and this Bible knocks that out of the park. It looks great. Words of Christ are in red.

The page layout is a double column verse-by-verse setting with references appearing at the end of each verse. Foot notes are on the bottom of the page. I actually like this setting much more than I thought I would. It’s really useful if you are a cross reference user. Navigating the references becomes a much quicker and more useful process. I think this could be a useful setting for every verse-by-verse Bible!

The end of the Bible features a Concordance as well as several full color maps.

I am surprised by how much I like this layout. If you’re a heavy cross reference user then I think you will love this format and this Bible. This is a another success in the Premier Collection for Thomas Nelson!
