The Holman Handcrafted Large Print Thinline KJV

I was taken aback when I opened the Bible I’m reviewing today. I hadn’t expected it, but am interested none-the-less. I know Holman and the Handcrafted collection for the CSB so I was quite surprised to receive a KJV. I think it should be interesting to check out!

The box certainly sets it off. It has the usual Handcrafted look, but it’s in a reddish brown box instead of blue and has “KJV” in the upper left hand corner. Inside, it’s wrapped in black card stock.

Taking the Bible out reveals a nice, brown goatskin. It’s soft, has a great grain, and smells wonderful. It’s quite thin, which makes sense since it is a thinking. Printed in gold on the spine is “KJV”, “HOLY BIBLE”, “KING JAMES VERSION”, and “HOMAN”. Each is separated by tooled bars. Included are three ribbon bookmarks in gold, black , and red. Unlike the CSB Handcrafted, which feature straight cuts on the ribbons, these have slanted cuts. There are brown head and tail bands and the page edges feature a red under gold art gilt.

Inside is a soft black calf liner and black vinyl end sheets. the Bible is Smyth-sewn and edge-lined for durability.

The paper looks great in this one! It’s very white and very opaque. The type size is a 10.5 and it features a black letter text. Interestingly enough, Christ’s words in Revelation appear in red. I don’t know if this was an oversight or intentional. The Bible The page layout in this Bible is super nice! It’s two-column and verse-by-verse. Page headings, chapter numbers, and verse numbers are all accented in red. It features the Pure Cambridge Edition of the KJV text.

The back features a “Where to Turn” section, which includes helpful verse for difference things one may face in life. There are full color maps.

All in all, I’m quite impressed by this offering from Holman. It’s a great layout in an excellent package. I believe KJV lovers will be quite pleased with this one and will want to pick one up!
