Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The LSB Portable Paragraph Reference 5 Solas Edition

The LSB Portable Paragraph Reference 5 Solas Edition

I’m consistently impressed by the quality of Bibles that Steadfast is producing. From their hardcovers to their edge lined editions, each Bible is well made with incredibly nice materials. This quality truthfully pulls me toward living in the Legacy Standard Bible. These are Bibles you just want to open up and not only feast on the Word of God, but also enjoy the nice, tactile experience.

Their most recent edition is the Portable Paragraph Reference. It’s a smaller, double-column LSB with references in a single column at the bottom. They just released their black letter versions of this Bible and they are very nice. I get the joy of reviewing the Five Solas edition in black Shamar Goatskin. Let’s jump into it.

Opening up the box reveals a beautiful Bible with a really full yapp! One thing I love that Steadfast does is that they don’t hold back on the yapp for their Bibles. This one is a stunner! The Shamar goatskin is fantastic and there’s a tooled perimeter line to give that yapp a structured look. There is black perimeter stitching. This Bible is gorgeous.

The spine of this Bible features six raised hubs with the five solas stamped in gold between each hub. The solas running down the spine truly sets this Bible apart from most of other Bibles sitting on a shelf. It is just gorgeous to look at.

The page edges feature a red under gold art gilt. There are three double-sided satin ribbons: one red, one gold, and one black. This Bible is truly a work of art.

Inside there’s a black cowhide liner with gold perimeter gilt line. Stamped in gold on the bottom of the back cover are the words, “LEGACY STANDARD BIBLE”.

I think this Bible is the ultimate portable package. The paper is a 28 gsm that keeps the footprint nice and compact. The layout is a two column paragraph with the references in a single column at the bottom. The type is a 9.5 black letter. It may read slightly smaller than 9.5, but not much. The page layout has elegant touches with the red accents on the book titles, headers, chapter, and page numbers.

Two features that I love on this edition of the LSB are found in the back. First, I feel like 316 had a huge win by doing their maps on Bible paper! There are 8 black and white maps back there that I didn’t even realize were back there because they actually printed them on Bible paper. If maps have to be in a Bible then this is the way it should be done. Bravo!

The other feature I love is the dot matrix paper that put in the back for extra notes. I love this feature and think every Bible should have extra paper in the back for notes and other needed references you may want in your Bible. I love it.

All in all, this Bible is beautiful and an excellent portable option of the Legacy Standard Bible. It will be my go to for grabbing a Bible on the go that can do it all. I can’t think of anything I would add or take out of this edition.

You can pick up your copy of the 5 Solas LSB PPR at 316’s website.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this Bible in exchange for a fair and honest review.
