The Beckett Simonon Gallagher Boot Review

About the Company

Beckett Simonon (pronounced sim-oh-non) is a name and company that is new to me . They base their philosophy on the belief that high quality products shouldn’t cost so much. Beckett Simonon is focused on providing high quality products with responsible manufacturing at unrivaled prices with an excellent customer experience. How do they achieve this? They manage the whole process. They are in charge of all the aspects of production. They sell you goods that are made to order instead of keeping inventory (this helps bring the price down). Finally, they sell online only instead of using retail stores that drive the price up.

Beckett Simonon is a unique company that I truly believe is focused on the customer. As stated, their products are made to order. This means you may have to wait longer to receive your product as your order is actually a pre-order. What you need to keep in mind is that you are getting high quality at a better price, which is worth the wait. After your order, they will keep you updated about the production process. Their products are repairable, which means you’ll get lots of life and wear out of them. You are making an investment with products from Beckett Simonon—not just buying something to throw away.

The Gallagher Boots

Now let’s talk about the boots. I’m really picky when it comes to boots so Beckett Simonon had a lot to live up to for me. First off, I have a wider foot and wear a 10 in shoes like the Adidas Ultraboost and most Nike sneakers. I ordered a 9.5 from Beckett Simonon and it was perfect. To help you, they have a size finder on their website. It really does help you get the right fit.

Presentation

It all starts with the box for me. We often hear the phrase, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” However, I often judge shoes and boots by their boxes. Presentation matters. The box the Gallagher arrived in is both beautiful and classy. You get a black box with the words Beckett Simonon stamped in gold in the middle. Simple is elegant and the presentation from the company knocked it out of the park from the get go.

Opening the box blew me away. When you open your box you’ll find a booklet that tells about the production process of your boots. I think this is very cool because Beckett Simonon values sustainability and reducing waste so they tell you what goes in to a pair of their high quality boots.

Each boot came in a shoe bag that had the words Beckett Simonon on them. This was over the top and screamed high class to me! I was floored by the care and attention to detail of this company. Not only that, they give you an extra pair of laces to keep your boots going and a pair of thin insoles to help you get that perfect fit if need be. I was blown away before ever even seeing the boots.

The Boots Themselves

As stated, I received the Gallagher Boots in Walnut, Pull-Up Leather. I pulled the boots out of the shoe bags and immediately they struck me as dressy. The website says you can dress these formal or casual. I might say with this model that you could go formal or semi-casual. They are beautiful boots. The leather itself is called pull-up. According to Beckett Simonon’s website, this means it’s rugged and durable. It’s meant to take bumps and bruises and look even better as it gets worn and scratched. You’ll notice the leather is thin, but these are nice boots and not work boots. The thinness of the leather really helps add to the comfort right out of the box. I wore these all around the city for a day and I can confirm that they still look attractive.

Upon receiving them, the stitching looked perfect. They have wax laces with three speed hooks at the top. I love speed hooks. They make taking a boot off and putting it on so much easier. There is also a pull tab on the back of the boot to help you put it on.

The sole is Blake Stitched, which means a row of stitching attaches the upper, insole, midsole and outsole. This makes the shoe sturdy and comfortable. I’ve heard many people say they prefer the Goodyear Welt, but both methods make a boot able to be resoled. The perimeter stitching on the Gallagher is really attractive and adds to the boot’s aesthetic. The bottom of the sole is a black rubber that is plain, but did seem to provide excellent traction while I was wearing them.

One of the places this boot really shines is inside. The inside leather liner is Vachetta leather. It’s on the inside and on the insole. It is designed to let your feet breathe, regulate temperature, and absorb moisture. The footbed is designed to shape to your foot after a few wears. This creates a custom fit and feel that makes these boots personally yours. I don’t think Beckett Simonon uses cork in their footbeds. I wish they did as I think it’s the best sole material for shaping to a foot, but these boots were still very comfortable.

One area that is a big deal for me in any shoe is the toe box. Having a foot on the wider side means that if I don’t get the right fit, I can often end up with toes that feel jammed in a shoe or boot. The Beckett Simonon toe box on the Gallagher is amazing! I don’t think my feet have ever been more comfortable in a boot. The toe box has just enough room for a perfect fit. I’m honestly not used to such a good fit and the toe box on this boot continues to amaze me.

Wearing the Boot

I went out and took these boots for an extended wear around the city. Just as Beckett Simonon advertises, they are truly comfortable from day one. A lot of boots have a break-in period that you have to suffer through to get an amazing experience—not these boots. They really did feel great right out of the box. The more I’ve worn them, the more comfortable they’ve become and the more I want to wear them.

My heel didn’t slip in these boots and I walked pretty quickly around the city. I couldn’t get over the fact that the fit was so good. I’m honestly not used to it. This boot truly feels great and looks good.

Conclusion

The Gallagher is a boot that looks classy. In formal or semi-casual occasions, this boot is going to take your look to the next level. Beckett Simonon makes boots for all occasions though. They have a lot of different styles worth checking out. They don’t just make boots though. They also make shoes, sneakers, bags, and belts. I think if you check out their stuff, you’ll truly be impressed with what you see. They really are making high quality goods at a really affordable price and I don’t think you’ll find better anywhere else.
