Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

I haven’t been reading as many articles lately as I used to, but I did read several over the past week that I really enjoyed and I wanted to share with others. Here they are in no certain order:

Make sure to check out my most recent article: Does Your Child Know Christ?

Reasons Why I Did Not Convert to Christianity

Owen Strachan writes an encouraging article about the supernatural normalcy most Christians experience when Jesus saves them.

Strachan says, “I’d like to offer a different testimony than this showy religion. In what follows, let me tell you why I—and why many other normal, unexciting, unspectacular Christians—did not convert to Christ.”

6 Principles for Student Ministry

This one was written back in 2015 by Jonathan Leeman, but I found it just encouraging and challenging today as I’m sure it was when it was released. Some of these I’m working to incorporate more fully into our church’s student ministry this year.

Should We Use Bethel Songs in Worship? 4 Diagnostic Questions

This is one worth considering and Wagner brings up a lot of good points in this article.

“Our team examines the content and implications of every song we sing—whether they come from our own artists at Watermark, Bethel Music, Hillsong, Passion, or any other collective community or individual artist. We’ve often chosen not to sing certain songs because we didn’t believe the content to be theologically accurate or glorifying to God. At the same time, we sometimes sing lyrics and music written or produced by churches we wouldn’t want to disciple the saints.”

A Call for Theological Triage and Christian Maturity

This one from Albert Mohler from back in 2004 has been circulating and it is a great and timely word for 2020. Read it first then read the link below that Dr. Mohler just released today.

The Convictional Cooperation of the Southern Baptist Convention

Many members of the SBC have no idea of its history and the purpose for which it was founded. Dr. Mohler sheds some light on the rich history of the SBC while calling a new generation to faithfulness.

“Something interesting has happened among us. The generation of the Conservative Resurgence had no choice but to learn how to talk about theology, doctrine, hard questions, and unavoidable issues. Somewhere, over the course of the last couple of decades, Southern Baptists have lost our ability to talk respectfully and convictionally. We had better recover that ability fast, or we will destroy the very foundation of cooperation that has brought us to this moment.”
