Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

I love journaling Bibles. In fact, they’re the only Bibles I feel totally uninhibited to write in. For some time, it seemed that the ESV had the market cornered on journaling Bibles, but that is quickly changing and that’s a really good thing. Journaling Bibles, in my opinion, may be some of the best wide margin Bibles out there—especially if they come in single column.

I am excited to be reviewing the CSB Legacy Notetaking Bible. This Bible is offered in several different covers, but I’m reviewing the tan genuine leather edition that has the slide-in clasp. It is a beautiful looking Bible that you’ll want to fill with notes and pass down to someone you care about. It’s truly a Bible that will leave a legacy.

This Bible has a rugged, genuine leather that I really like the look and feel of. It’s the type of leather that will look better and better with more use and age. As stated, it has a slide-in clasp that holds it closed. On the spine from top to bottom you have an imprint of the CSB logo then the words, “HOLY BIBLE”, “CHRISTIAN STANDARD BIBLE”, and “HOLMAN”. The page edges have a gold art gilt and there are two ribbon bookmarks. One is orange and the other is red. The Bible is Smyth-sewn for durability, which is especially important because this Bible is thick.

Inside the Bible is edge-lined with a black synthetic liner. One critique I have is that on both the front and back interior, parts of the cover are coming up off the edges. This is fine because of perimeter stitching, but it seems maybe it wasn’t fully glued or it possibly wasn’t glued well. For what this Bible costs, you don’t want this to happen.

A cool feature that this Bible is an extended presentation page section. There are pages for a family tree, memories, important events, marriage, births and adoptions, and another section for notes. They truly mean for this to be a legacy Bible. They’ve even included a page in the beginning giving you ideas of how best to use this Bible.

I really like this Bible. The pages are a cream color and there is minimal ghosting. It’s a single-column format and the text is line-matched. The font is a nice 9 point, which to me feels just right. There is generous outer margin space for notes and at the end of each book there is a section where you can write key verses to memorize for that book. I think that’s a really nice touch!

Another cool feature is the concordance. In the concordance, the outer margin is lined just like the rest of the Bible so you can add your own entries or write notes about a particular entry. I think this is a really nice feature that adds to the usefulness of this Bible. There are also several maps in the back printed on matte card stock.

All in all, this is a really awesome Bible! It truly is designed to leave a family legacy and it’s an excellent edition to the CSB lineup. This will be a Bible you can fill with notes and prayers and whomever you pass it on to will treasure it for years to come!

You can pick up the CSB Legacy Notetaking Bible on Lifeway or on Amazon. (affiliate)
