Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.
All in CSB
I’ve had a CSB Spurgeon Study Bible in hardcover for some time. I’m a huge Charles Spurgeon fan and I love that the CSB paired his notes and sermons with the text. I think it’s about time the Prince of Preachers received the Handcrafted—premium—treatment. So without further ado, here is my review of the CSB Handcrafted Spurgeon Study Bible.
I’m a heavy CSB user. Our church uses it and so I frequently preach, teach, and study from it. That being said, I get really excited when cool new CSB editions arrive. Before the Verse-by-Verse came out, my favorite was the Single Column Personal Size. That’s why I’m pumped that they’ve updated it to the 2020 text and slapped an exciting new leather around it! Let’s check it out!
I love seeing more premium CSB’s arriving on the scene. The Bible I’m reviewing today certainly is interesting! It seems to be a blend of two previous CSB’s. The question is, “did they do it right?” The CSB Handcrafted Pastor’s Bible Verse-by-Verse seems to be a blend of the Handcrafted Verse-by-Verse and the former Single Column Pastor’s Bible.
The Bible I’m reviewing today was love at first sight. I saw it and knew I needed to check it out. Even more so, my oldest daughter wanted a full size Bible and this Bible looks so good that I hoped I could pass it to her after reviewing it. Let me just say, the pictures don’t do this Bible justice. It really is just a beautiful Bible and it’s a Kid’s Bible at that!
The Christian Standard Bible is a translation that I’m really excited to see release in new editions. I like the translation a lot, but they seem to be a bit slow in putting new things out and I want more. They have recently released two new thinline editions in black genuine leather. One with references and one without. I’ll be look at both in this review.
The CSB LIfe Connections Study Bible may be one of the best kept secrets in the CSB world. I’m not sure I’ve seen a review on it so I’m happy to get the opportunity to introduce you. This Bible should probably be the secret weapon of every small group and Bible study leader.
Holman is knocking it out of the park with their portable Bibles! I just want to quickly tell you about this awesome little single column portable edition of the CSB! I love single columns so I really wanted to love this Bible!
Holman has recently been firing on all cylinders with their new Handcrafted Collection. The Handcrafted Collection is the new name for the premium CSB Bibles. If a Bible has this label, you can expect to find it built with premium materials. One of their newest to this series is the Ancient Faith Study Bible. This Bible has been out for awhile in other bindings, but it is now receiving the VIP treatment from Holman.
It has been quite some time since I can remember there being so much anticipation for a Bible. Rumors flew around, the date got pushed back, and rumors were made up regarding this Bible. Maybe it was the lack of pictures, the lack of information, or just the fact that this was Holman’s second truly premium Bible being released in the CSB, but the Handcrafted Collection Single-Column, Wide-Margin generated quite a stir!
I’ve increasingly become a fan of Scripture Notebooks. It seems every translation has released their own spin on these handy and affordable notebooks. I’ve used them for everything from sermon prep to group studies to not worry about messing up my Bible while reading it in bed. Their uses and applications truly seem endless.
I’ve become a big fan of verse-by-verse layouts. They are helpful for teaching, preaching, and I’ve even enjoyed them for my own quiet time reading. The CSB is a translation that I’ve come to enjoy immensely as well. My church uses it so I interact with it often. I even decided to do a six month read through of the whole thing. That being said, when excellent CSB editions come out, I try and jump on them. The CSB verse-by-verse Bible was one I was really excited about. I’ve used the goatskin edition, but I decided I wanted to check out the bonded leather edition because sometimes it’s nice to have an edition you’re not afraid to be a little rough with. Today I’m bringing you a review of the CSB Verse-by-Verse in brown bonded leather.
