The CSB Single Column Compact
Holman is knocking it out of the park with their portable Bibles! I just want to quickly tell you about this awesome little single column portable edition of the CSB! I love single columns so I really wanted to love this Bible!
It turns out that it’s awesome. It reminds me a lot of Cambridge Clarion but it uses imitation leather (mine is the brown LeatherTouch) and it’s way cheaper! The brown LeatherTouch is really really nice. I keep saying that fake leather keeps getting better and it really does. This also comes in a navy and I’d really like to get my hands on one! Back to the brown though. It has gold page edges and two double sided satin ribbon bookmarks! One is brown and the other is red. Two bookmarks is once again a really nice touch!
This little beauty is Smyth-sewn, which is so nice for such an affordable edition. It has a paste down paper liner inside. The paper is quite opaque. It’s set in a single column with translation notes marked off in a single column at the bottom of each page.
The font is a super readable 8.25 type size. I don’t think I’d want to preach from this, but it really is a great travel Bible.
The back has a three column concordance where the entries are really small! It also has lined note paper. Finally, there are full color maps. If I’m honest, I wish Holman had decided to not include any of this. The concordance is so small it’s not useful, the lined paper is nice, but unnecessary, and the maps just really aren’t needed either. Instead, why not make this thing slightly thinner and a bit more portable?
Don’t get me wrong though, I really like this CSB! Like I said, I want a navy one too! I use the CSB a lot and this is a great addition to the CSB lineup. For the price, this is an all purpose Bible that you can afford to throw in a bag and mark up as much as you want. You will certainly be able to afford another one!
