Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

ICA Rebind of an NLT Select

ICA Rebind of an NLT Select

ICA (In Christ Alone) Rebinding is doing incredible work. I have a couple of his rebinds and each one I see just keeps getting better and better. I’m truly blown away. On the rebind I’m reviewing today, I pretty much told him the colors I liked and mentioned I’d like shark to be one of the materials involved and I let him do the rest. I didn’t see any pictures before I unboxed it, but when I pulled the Bible out of the box I was blown away!

I had him rebind Tyndale’s NLT Select for me. The Select is an amazing NLT block, but doesn’t quite hit the premium mark it’s going for. I thought it deserved a true premium treatment so I sent it to ICA.

This Bible rebind has a three piece cover. The spine is black shark. The shark feels amazing and the grain that sharkskin has is unrivaled. It’s deep and beautiful. Even more amazing is that ICA puts spine hubs on the shark. There are five spine hubs that really pop. There’s even tool work on the edge of each hub.

Speaking of popping, the gold stamping on the black shark really shines! Stamped into the shark are the words, “HOLY BIBLE”, “NLT”, and “ICA”. I’m blown away by all the little details he did on this rebind. There are two perimeter tooled lines that go around this cover. This Bible has full yapp and black perimeter stitching as well.

I haven’t even talked about the grey Sokoto goatskin. It creates a nice compliment to the shark. The grey Sokoto has a nice grain pattern itself and it’s nice and floppy. This makes it interesting when opening the Bible. The shark is a bit stiffer so you can definitely notice where they’re attached. This is no fault to ICA, just an interesting note of the combination of materials.

He used black leather head and tail bands, which is a nice touch. I also love his choice of ribbons. He used a black and two gold berisford ribbons. The gold was a nice choice as it really tied in the page edges, spine stamping, and perimeter gilt lines. They’re also nice and long. Just the way I like them.

He did double gold perimeter gilt lines inside and they really pop against the black calf liner. I’ve never had a Bible with double perimeter gilt lines and I love it! It’s a really beautiful touch.

I’d also do him a disservice if I didn’t mention his corner work. His corners are beautifully done and show a real level of skill.

ICA has quickly become one of my favorite rebinders. His work is incredible. His details are beautiful. This Bible is truly a work of art. I highly recommend you hit him up on Facebook to either restore a Bible or customize one you love!

Hit him up here for a rebind today!
