Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The NLT Large Print Thinline Reference Bible with Filament

The NLT Large Print Thinline Reference Bible with Filament

One thing I wish Tyndale would do is start making premium NLT Bibles. Aside from the Tyndale Select, the Bible I’m reviewing today is as close as you can get. Honestly, it’s really nice and I am pretty impressed by it. Tyndale is so close here, but they need to take a page from Thomas Nelson and Holman and jump in the premium game. The NLT deserves it!

I’m reviewing the NLT Large Print Thinline Reference Bible in navy blue genuine leather. This Bible is filament enabled. It also has extra large thumb indexes! Let’s take a closer look.

When you pull this Bible out you immediately notice how thin it is. It really is a nice thinline. It has a great genuine leather and thanks to the vinyl paste down liner, it’s really flexible. The spine is simple. In silver are the words “TYNDALE”, “HOLY BIBLE”, and “NLT” all at the top of the Bible.

There are light blue head and tail bands, which is an interesting choice. There’s one white single-sided satin ribbon bookmark, which could certainly use an upgrade. The page edges have a nice silver gilt and this edition has silver thumb tabs to help you find the books of the Bible.

As stated earlier, this Bible has a navy paste down vinyl liner as well as navy end sheets. The Bible is Smyth-sewn for durability. The paper in this Bible doesn’t seem thick, but ghosting is minimal and the text seems to be line matched as best I can tell.

The Bible has a two column layout with words of Christ in red. References and translation notes are located at the bottom right of the right side page. The font is a 10 point, which is very readable.

In the back is what Tyndale calls “A Visual Overview of the Bible,” which I honestly really like. I didn’t think I’d like it, but it has a really cool layout of the Psalms and features some other interesting charts and layouts as well.

On top of that, this Bible is filament enabled. I downloaded the filament app to see what it was all about. Tyndale is paving new roads by bridging physical Bibles with technology. I was actually quite impressed with the app. On the top center of every page is an icon with the page number and when you use the app to scan that icon, you’ll be taken to a lot of information and study helps that have to do with the verses you’ve been reading on that page. It’s a very innovative feature.

All in all, I really recommend this Bible. I’ve been growing to love the NLT and this is a nice thinline. Once again, I’d love to see Tyndale venture more into the premium game, but this is a nice Bible at a really nice price.

You can pick up your copy of the NLT Large Print Thinline on Amazon. (affiliate).

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this Bible from Tyndale in exchange for a fair and honest review.
