Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The NKJV Classic Verse-by-Verse Center-Column Reference Bible in Gray Genuine Leather

The NKJV Classic Verse-by-Verse Center-Column Reference Bible in Gray Genuine Leather

Just when I think Bible publishers have done it all they go and surprise me again. I opened this Bible and was just absolutely blown away. This Bible is gorgeous from top to bottom and front to back. Today I’m reviewing the gray genuine leather NKJV Classic Verse-by-Verse Center-Column Reference Bible.

Now full disclosure, blue is one of my favorite colors. Also not just any blue, but a nice royal blue. This may be the first time I discuss page edges at the beginning of a review, but the royal blue page edges on this Bible are so striking! I was destined to love it. The page edges set this Bible off.

The page edges paired with the grey genuine leather is just a beautiful combination. This Bible does have a lighter grey genuine leather that feels really nice. It has grey perimeter stitching. The spine has five raised hubs. There’s also a silver geometric design between each hub. I could have done without the silver design, but I do give Thomas Nelson credit for trying new things. Written in silver are the words, “HOLY BIBLE.” Also in silver at the bottom is a small NKJV logo and the Thomas Nelson house logo.

This Bible has three double sided satin ribbon bookmarks which I also love. Two are a silver/grey and the other is a royal blue. They are wide and long, which really adds some elegance to the Bible. There are also grey head and tail bands.

Inside this Bible has a grey vinyl paste down liner and vinyl end sheets. I really wish this Bible was edge-lined, but it is Smyth-sewn. There is no overcast stitching, but I do think it should hold up well. I certainly want it to!

I’m unsure the thickness of this paper, but I would guess a 32 or 36 gsm. It seems nice and thick and there’s very little ghosting. The text also looks to be line matched. The layout is a verse-by-verse setting. Each book has a brief introduction. This is a double column layout with center column references. Page headings, section subheadings, chapter numbers, verse numbers, and cross reference numbers are all in red. Words of Christ are also in red.

This Bible features a 10 point type size. It’s nice and large and makes the reading experience great. It’s set in Thomas Nelson’s exclusive NKJV Comfort Print Typeface. I really love the Comfort Print and always enjoy reading Bibles that feature it.

This Bible has the complete Thomas Nelson cross-reference system, which features more than 72,000 references. These are set in three columns in the back. There are also several maps printed on glossy card stock.

All in all, this Bible is a home run. I love it. I love to look at it. The royal blue stained page edges paired with the gray leather is just a winning combination. If you’re an NKJV fan or just a fan of beautiful Bibles then you’re going to want to pick this one up.
