The CSB Life Connections Study Bible
The CSB LIfe Connections Study Bible may be one of the best kept secrets in the CSB world. I’m not sure I’ve seen a review on it so I’m happy to get the opportunity to introduce you. This Bible should probably be the secret weapon of every small group and Bible study leader.
While I have no familiarity with the Serendipity Study Bible, this is apparently an update to it. It features thousands of questions and study helps for all the passages of the Bible making it incredibly useful for those who lead groups and have to create their own questions. Let’s dive deeper into a look at this Bible.
Sadly, there was no genuine leather option for this Bible so I’m reviewing the brown Leathertouch version. The Leathertouch still feels and looks really nice. Blind stamped on the front cover is a Jerusalem cross. Blind stamped on the spine are the words, “LIFE CONNECTIONS STUDY BIBLE”, the Jerusalem Cross, “CHRISTIAN STANDARD BIBLE”, and “HOLMAN”.
There are brown and white head and tail bands, gold page edges, and one thin brown double sided satin ribbon bookmark. This Bible certainly could have used multiple bookmarks with as thick as it is! Inside there’s a brown paste down paper liner.
This Bible includes several great features. There are book introductions for each book of the Bible. There are also chapter summaries for each chapter in the Bible, which is really a really unique and cool feature. There are study notes as most study Bibles have.
One of the biggest features is is the questions that are in each margin. They have icons helping you to know what they are. Open are questions that initiate discussion or reflection. Consider questions focus on the details in the passage. Apply questions are useful for daily life application. Worship, Groups, and Dig Deeper questions all are ways to engage deeper with the passage.
Also interesting are the course studies. These are at the front of the Bible and are meant to be helpful in guiding group or personal Bible study. There are 200 course study plans for common Bible passages, 60 Life Needs studies that focus on specific topics like discipleship and attitude adjustment, and 16 topical course study plans.
In the back of this Bible, you’ll find your usual Concordance and Maps.
This Bible is thick and it’s full of great resources for either personal study or leading a group. It’s unique in what it brings to the table. It doesn’t have the best binding or paper, but the content is so useful that I’d highly recommend it if you’d like thought provoking questions in your personal study or you need help with questions for leading a group.
