The Old Testament Scripture Notebook Set
I’ve increasingly become a fan of Scripture Notebooks. It seems every translation has released their own spin on these handy and affordable notebooks. I’ve used them for everything from sermon prep to group studies to not worry about messing up my Bible while reading it in bed. Their uses and applications truly seem endless.
Today I’m reviewing the Old Testament Box Set of the Christian Standard Bible Scripture Notebooks. Box sets are great because they allow you to easily purchase the entire Old or New Testament in these useful notebooks so if you’re moving through books quickly while using them to read, you won’t miss a beat. You’ll also have them on hand when the situation arises that you’ll inevitably want to grab one. There have been multiple times when I wished I had a certain Scripture Notebook only to come to the realization that I hadn’t purchased that one yet. Grab a box set and worry no more!
The set comes in a nice display box that is colored in a gradient blue. These look great sitting in the box on the shelf and make a great display piece. On each end the box says “CSB Scripture Notebook”, “The Old Testament”, and “Read. Reflect. Respond.” The front displays the spine of each notebook. This provides a great visual for the overall length of each book. However, some notebooks contain more than one book.
The notebooks themselves are a beautiful navy blue with shiny copper printing on the cover. On the back is a large white sticker giving a summary of the Scripture Notebooks. This sticker easily peels off to reveal the CSB logo in copper.
Inside is where these notebooks truly shine. These have a single column layout with a wide margin. Adjacent to each page of text is a lined notebook page. The font is 11-point, which is nice and large. I especially love this because I love single column and large font, but to create a Bible with these dimensions would leave you with a mammoth that no one wanted to carry around.
The paper in these is nice and thick and puts you in mind of Moleskine style journal. The CSB opted for a cream colored paper. I’ve seen others use true white. I personally don’t have a preference here, but some may. A feature I really love is the extra lined pages after each book. This means that for notebooks that contain multiple books, you’ll extra lined pages after each one. I think this is a great feature that could easily be overlooked.
Honestly, I can’t say enough great things about these journals. They have a multitude of uses and they are cheap enough to really use up and then buy a new one. They’d make great gifts and are useful for groups as well. Honestly, just get them. I’ll even encourage you to go ahead and buy the box set, you’ll eventually want every book of the Bible anyway!
