Let God Blow Your Mind
Have you ever realized that something was much better than you thought it was? Maybe it was something like a food. I remember when I had my first fresh mango from a tree in Puerto Rico. My mind was blown. It was like I had never truly tasted a mango before and all other grocery store mangos would now pale in comparison.
I think this is our case with God. He is certainly much better than we can ever imagine. When we are finally with him, our minds will be blown. Our worship is weak because we don’t truly know how amazing God is. Our prayer can be short and distracted because we can’t comprehend his majesty.
J.I. Packer says it like this, "But this is knowledge which Christians today largely lack: and that is one reason why our faith is so feeble and our worship is so flabby." If we knew the greatness of the God who has saved us, we’d give him everything. We’d hold nothing back. We would treat him as if he were the person in the world that we’d like to spend the most time with and give the most honor. But we don’t comprehend his infinite worth.
Packer says, "Our thoughts of God are often not great enough." We tend to think of God in our terms. Many of us ere there. God, however, has revealed himself to us in his Word. Even in taking his Word seriously, we still often fall short in our thinking about him. He's far greater than we are able to imagine.
When is the last time God has blown your mind? He is majestic. We would do well to take time to remove distractions and sit and allow ourselves the time and space to wonder at the greatness of our God.
