R.C. Sproul: A Life
The Lord has blessed the church with exceptionally gifted people. R.C. Sproul was one of those incredibly gifted teachers and leaders. He gave so much to the church in his lifetime and he’s dearly missed.
Stephen J. Nichols has written an incredible biography on the life of R.C. Sproul. It’s hard to imagine a better one being written. Nichols leaves no stone unturned. He begins at R.C.’s birth and takes you through every step of Sproul’s life. In reading this you will certainly learn things you didn’t know and you’ll gain insight into one of the greatest Christian minds of our day.
For me, the book had a bit of a slow start, but I suspect I wanted to learn more about Sproul’s ministry than his upbringing. It all ties together however since one is greatly influenced by where they grow up and who they are raised by. Nichols gives you insight into Sproul’s college years, the founding of Ligonier, the beginnings of TableTalk, Sproul as pastor and theologian, and more.
If you’ve benefited from R.C. Sproul, you’ll enjoy this book. If you enjoy biographies, this one is very well done. I imagine that most of us have been impacted by Sproul’s teaching in some way or another—quite possibly whether we know it or not. Sproul was a gift to the church and this biography is a gift as well.
