The ICA Bibles Horween NKJV Maclaren
After you’ve been reviewing Bibles a few years, you really begin to feel like you’ve seen it all. Sometimes the wow factor just starts to go away. Then you meet someone who is pushing the envelope—someone like Jon over at ICA Bibles.
I’ve come to realize that Jon’s brain just works differently than everyone else’s and that’s a good thing. He pushes boundaries. He tries new things. He thinks of things that no one else would think of and that makes his work unique and really fun!
I sent an NKJV Maclaren over to Jon with a pretty good idea of what I wanted him to do with it. Last minute I changed my mind and told him to do whatever he wanted and to surprise me. I’m so glad I did! Jon sent me back a work of art! What I opened up absolutely blew me away.
This cover is just insane. That’s the only way to describe it. I don’t think a rebinder has ever done a cover like this before. First of all, it’s a beautiful burgundy Horween leather. It both looks and smells amazing. It’s got a nice glossy shine. It’s stunning in its own right. If that’s not enough, Jon hand tooled a diamond pattern or cross hatched pattern on the whole front and back of this Bible. It’s uniform and it really is a work of art.
The navy blue perimeter stitch on this Bible is the attention to detail that sets Jon apart. It’s a perfect accent color that looks amazing with the burgundy Horween. Not only that, but the burgundy head and tail bands are those little details I’m talking about as well.
The spine is also such a statement piece. It’s blind stamped and the hubs and tooling really set it apart. ICA does the spine hubs so well, but adding the tooling around it really gives it a depth and character that you don’t see on most Bibles. It just makes you look at the spine twice.
Jon included three beautiful, gold Berisford ribbons.
Inside is a black lamb liner that’s so soft, but I’m always blown away by the double gold perimeter gilt line. It’s just so beautiful. I know I’m gushing, but I love the double gold gilt line and it looks so good on a full yapp Bible. Finally, I will say that Jon’s corners are second to none. They’re well done and these are the types of things you expect when you’re paying for a great rebind.
I can’t rave about ICA enough. I’ve seen a lot of amazing Bibles and a lot of incredible rebinds, but this one just stands out above everything else. If you want an incredible rebind, contact Jon at ICA. If you want something truly unique—something that’s a work of art—tell him to surprise you!
Hit Jon up over on Facebook and tell him that Cam sent you!
