A Legacy of Layout

This is what will be my final post for why I am switching to the LSB as my primary translation for reading and study. You can read the first two posts here and here. My final reason for making the switch is admittedly the most superficial. I would not make the switch for this reason alone, but I do consider it the cherry on top.

The final reason I am making the switch is that the LSB is produced in several different versions of what is my favorite Bible format. As a reviewer, I’ve seen a lot of Bible styles and layouts. My favorite is the single column, verse-by-verse format. I don’t know if I love it because I preach and teach regularly or if it is just a total preference, but it is by far my favorite Bible layout and to be honest, it’s hard to come by.

Currently the LSB is producing three different Bibles in this format. They have the Handy Size, the Large Print Wide Margin, and the Inner Column Reference. For someone who loves this format, this feels like gold! For perspective, the ESV currently has one Bible produced in this format and it doesn’t have references. The NKJV has no Bibles being made in this format. The CSB also has no Bibles being made in this format. It is perplexing to me as to why more publishers don’t use this format because I think it can’t be beat for those who preach and teach. Even just someone wanting to study the Bible would enjoy this layout and find it useful.

As I said, if this was my only reason, I would not have made the switch. However, it’s such a joy to get to read and study God’s Word each day in the layout that really aids me in doing so.
