The Premier Collection NIV Thinline Bible in Coral

When you’ve been reviewing Bibles for awhile you begin to think that you’ve seen it all. Then Zondervan comes along and blows your mind! The Bible I’m reviewing today is both beautiful and amazing. When you hold it in person I truly think it’ll leave you in awe.

The Premier Collection NIV Thinline has all the bells and whistles. The cover, spine, gilt, bookmarks, and liner are all things of beauty and even more, they all tie in together to make a lovely Bible. Let’s look at each aspect individually.

First off, the goatskin is coral! Personally, I just call it pink, but the cover will turn heads. It feels great and is nice and soft. It also has great grain.

The spine has five raised hubs. What really pops is the gold foil floral design. Check the picture below because you have to see it to believe it. Zondervan really pulled out all the stops for this Bible.

Matching the spine on this Bible is the art gilt. It has what are called gauffered edges. This means there’s a design on the gilt. The gilt is gold with a floral pattern on the page edges. Once again, the pictures really show the beauty of this Bible. The Bible also includes three beautiful ribbons in pink, navy, and gold. They’re double-sided satin, 3/8” wide, and are nice and long.

Inside, the Bible is Smyth-sewn and edge-lined. It has a gold perimeter gilt line, and a navy calfskin liner with matching vinyl end sheets.

The paper in this Bible is a 36 GSM Premium European Bible Paper. It’s a double-column, paragraph layout. The type is 9 point in Zondervan’s NIV Comfort Print typeface. Words of Christ are in black.

My only complaint with this Bible is Zondervan’s choice of accent color. They use a teal accent for book titles, chapter numbers, page headings, and subheadings. The accent color seems out of place with the rest of the beautiful colors on this Bible. Navy seems like it would have made a better choice. The back of the Bible contains full color maps.

Zondervan knocked it out of the park with this Bible! Every detail is beautiful and it makes me ask, “What will they think of next?” If you’re a lover of the NIV or beautiful Bibles, I highly recommend you pick one up.
