Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The Legacy Standard Bible Compact 5 Solas Edition

The Legacy Standard Bible Compact 5 Solas Edition

It’s hard to beat a good, compact Bible. They are the workhorses of the Bible world because they can go so many places. They tuck in a bag, stay in a car, travel in a back pocket, and anywhere else you can think to stick one. Why not have a compact Bible that’s made to stand up to abuse? That is exactly the reason to invest in a premium compact Bible. It can take your abuse and look good doing it.

The Legacy Standard Bible Edge-Lined compact edition is meant to withstand your abuse for your lifetime. I’m looking today at the 5 Solas edition that’s wrapped in black goatskin. It’s a beautiful little Bible that’s built to stay tough and go where you go.

I love the design of this little Bible. The black goatskin feels great in the hand and it has a generous app that folds over the page edges for protection. The gold accents on this Bible really make it stand out. The front cover has the words, “Holy Bible” in gold along with the LSB logo.

The spine gives a unique spin on the 5 Solas design. The top says, “Sola” and then down the spine it displays each of the 5 Solas of the Reformation. The words “Steadfast Bibles” rounds out the design. I really love the look and design of this little compact!

The page edges are a red under gold. There are two thin, double-sided satin ribbon bookmarks. One is gold and the other is red. There is no interior gold gilt line, but I do wish it had one. There is a black calf liner.

This Bible is printed and bound in Korea. It’s Smyth-sewn and edge-lined for durability.

The paper in the Bible is really nice and seems quite opaque even though it’s only 28 gsm. The page layout is a double-column, paragraph style. A line runs down the middle of each page to separate the columns. I’m not a huge fan of the line in the middle of the page design, but it works for me in this little Bible for some reason.

Words of Christ are in black and the type size is an 8.5 font. It’s very readable despite the Bibles small footprint. Unlike many other LSB’s, this is a paragraph edition. I like that the LSB still designates new paragraphs with bold verse numbers even though it’s mostly easy to tell when new ones start. It’s a nice little feature they’ve included.

The other thing I love about this little Compact is the lack of maps. I don’t want maps in my portable, compact Bible and I’m glad someone thought through that in the design of this one.

All in all, I am a huge fan of this little Bible. I love having cross references and I’m looking forward to a portable edition with those, but this Bible is great for being on the go and it’s built to stand up to lots of use.
