Hebrews is written by Thomas Schreiner. I highly respect Dr. Schreiner as a scholar and was quite excited that he wrote the Hebrews commentary. Even more, I love the practicality of this commentary.
Lexham Press has recently begun releasing volumes of their Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentary. I have gained a growing interest in Biblical Theology so I am very excited about these commentaries. I’m especially excited that they’ve released a two volume edition of the Psalms from one of my favorite teachers, Dr. Jim Hamilton (or Dr. James M. Hamilton Jr. for the long form).
I’ve been really excited about Crossway’s new ESV Expository Commentary series. These are new commentaries with the goal of providing “a clear, crisp, and Christ-centered explanation of the biblical text.” At this point in time, there are seven commentaries in the set and they haven’t been going in order. I’m reviewing Volume IV: Ezra - Job and Volume X: Romans - Galatians…
I wish I owned every book in the God’s Word For You series. It is excellent and helpful commentary and each one I’ve explored has proven valuable. I am especially excited about Psalms For You. The Psalms are so useful and helpful for the life of the believer. Learning to read and understand them well is valuable.
As a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, I consider Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr. (our seminary president) a very wise man. I always appreciate his application of a biblical worldview to current events on his podcast called The Briefing and I take the opportunities I can to glean from his wisdom in the things he writes. That’s why I was excited to have the opportunity to review his new commentary Acts 13-28 For You from The Good Book Company.
