The NASB Premier Collection MacArthur Study Bible

I’m reviewing the Premier Edition of The MacArthur Study Bible, which means I will pay attention to both the construction of the Bible as well as the content. I’m also reviewing the New American Standard translation of this Bible. When you think of Dr. MacArthur, you think of the NASB. This is one of the nicest Study Bibles I’ve ever owned. Thomas Nelson has created an incredible product that anyone would prize to have on their shelf. Having a previous version of this Study Bible, I’ll also compare some of the features between the older and newer edition and explore whether the new edition is worth the upgrade…

The Cambridge Topaz in Blue Goatskin

It takes a lot for a Bible to blow me away these days. I’ve been privileged to get to check out many of the nicest Bibles out there. I really thought I had just about seen and experienced it all. When I first heard about Cambridge’s new Bible, I figured it would be much of the same things I had seen and experienced. All of that changed when I finally received a copy to review. The Topaz blew me away. It set the bar higher for what a premium Bible should be. I was honestly pretty shocked. What makes the Topaz so great? Let’s talk about it…

Our Guiding Father

I’m sure we’ve all been in a place where we’d like to know the exact will of God for our lives. I’ve found myself there plenty of times. It’s typically a situation where I have a couple of options and I want to know the right one and I just want him to tell me. Sound familiar? At the same time, I worry that if I choose the wrong one then I could totally screw up my life—and now my wife and daughters’ lives as well. Yet, it seems as though God stays silent…

A Review of Volumes IV and X of Crossway's ESV Expository Commentary Series

I’ve been really excited about Crossway’s new ESV Expository Commentary series. These are new commentaries with the goal of providing “a clear, crisp, and Christ-centered explanation of the biblical text.” At this point in time, there are seven commentaries in the set and they haven’t been going in order. I’m reviewing Volume IV: Ezra - Job and Volume X: Romans - Galatians…

The NASB 2020 Large Print Ultrathin Reference Bible

It's finally here! We've heard a lot about the NASB 2020 and we finally have physical copies in our hands that we can read and check out. Not only that, you can pick the 2020 edition up on the Kindle as well. I've been so excited about this update to the NASB that I'm currently trying to read through it. I'm also excited to get to review the Large Print Ultrathin Reference Bible from The Lockman Foundation today…

Adopted into the Family

Earthly adoption provides a beautiful spiritual picture of what God does for us. He brings us into his family. We become heirs with Christ. We aren’t just people who have been forgiven by God, he lavishes his affection on us calling us sons and daughters. I agree with Packer when he says, "To be right with God the Judge is a great thing, but to be loved and cared for by God the Father is a greater."

Fully Satisfied

This was a long chapter, but it was packed with goodness as Packer focused on the heart of the gospel. Packer asserts that at the heart of the gospel is the propitiation of God. Propitiation is a fancy word, but essentially it means that God’s wrath toward sinners and their sin has been pacified or satisfied in so much that God and sinners are no longer enemies, but friends.

The ESV New Inductive Study Bible

Today I’m happy to review a Bible that really peaked my interest because of it’s layout. It’s a Bible that I don’t see talked about too often, but it’s honestly packed full of really interesting features. I’m talking about The ESV New Inductive Study Bible from Precept Ministries and Harvest House Publishers.

Our Jealous God

Would you ever call yourself a zealot about anything? Is there something you can't shut up about? Is there something you'd defend no matter the conversation and who's putting it down. Maybe it's something like crossfit, a certain band, a certain sports team, a political figure, or something else. We all have things we're zealous about. We all have things that we love to talk about or even may defend.

The ESV Study Bible in Deep Brown Cowhide

I am a huge fan of the ESV Study Bible. I've had a hardback copy for as long as I can remember and I also use the digital version quite regularly. This Study Bible is such an excellent resource that I wanted to check out some of the finest bindings on the market. I've reviewed the Heirloom version here and today I'm pleased to get to bring you a review of the ESV Study Bible in deep brown cowhide.
