Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

Keep Death in Mind

Keep Death in Mind

Over the past several days, I've been thinking a lot about my death. One day we will all die, but that's not something we like to consider or ponder. It's probably because it is a sad thing to contemplate, but I would argue that it is something we need have on our minds more often. We are temporal creatures and we are not promised to see another day.

What would change for you if you knew you only had a few days left or that today could be the last? Seriously give that some consideration right now. Are you happy with how you are living your life? Are you appreciating the little moments with your family or friends? Are you missing life by constantly checking social media or playing a game or doing something else on your smartphone?

Remembering that this life is a vapor and that our days are temporary helps us to truly live. In the past few days while considering this I have treasured little moments with my wife and daughter. I've experienced a level of appreciation I had begun to take for granted. Each moment felt like it counted.

Not only that, but I have given much more weight to my salvation in Jesus Christ. This life isn't all there is. It is what happens in eternity that matters. Are you confident that you truly have that relationship with Jesus? Is it your source of joy and hope or are you living for other things that will fade and pass away? We should all be asking these questions.

Jonathan Edwards said, "Lord, stamp eternity on my eyeballs." May that be our prayer and our heart. God, help us not live for this life, but invest in and live for eternity with You.
