5 Puritan Women
It’s no secret I’m a big fan of the Puritans. We all know about many of the Puritan men and their writings, but what about the women? When I saw this book title come across my screen I knew I had to check it out. If I’m honest, I hadn’t even considered Puritan women before so I’m really glad that Jenny-Lyn de Klerk put this book together!
As the title says, you’ll meet five different Puritan women in this book: Agnes Beaumont, Lucy Hutchinson, March Rich, Anne Bradstreet, and Lady Brilliant Harley. In these pages, you won’t just encounter the stories of these women, you’ll learn from their lives. Each one has a focus and each one has a lesson to be learned. That’s one thing I love about this book. You don’t just find short biographies, but you find spiritual lessons that are clearly given.
The other thing to keep in mind is that this is not just a book for women, but also a great book for men. So often books like these can be solely marketed to women, but men have much to gain from reading about the Puritan women as well. I’d suggest reading this book devotionally and take the time to really think about each person since this is a short book containing the stories of five different people.
