The ESV Verse-by-Verse Preaching Bible and My Plea to Crossway
It’s no secret that I think the ESV Verse-by-Verse Preaching Bible is currently the best ESV on the market. Its beautiful type setting paired with its generous price are a hard to beat combination. There is one thing that I think could make this Bible even better though and that is why I’m writing this plea today.
I’ll cut straight to the point. I’ve recently become a huge fan of cross references and they are the one thing this Bible is missing. I may even go as far as to say that the preacher needs cross references. They not only help in study, but are also a very useful tool in the spur of the moment when preaching. Cross references can be one of the greatest aids in Biblical Theology as well.
So here’s my plea to Crossway. Please make this Bible with cross references! I don’t think it would be hard to add them. You could push the text outward and add them to the inner margin. That would be my preference. Just leave a little room for notes on the outer margin please. Another great option would be to add them across the bottom of the page. Either of these would make for such a fantastic Bible! I bet you would sell a ton.
