Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

Seated With Christ

Seated With Christ

Without Christ, the human condition is one of death. That’s how we are described at the beginning of Ephesians 2. We are dead in sin. In fact, to take it a step further, we are not only dead in sin, but we are following Satan. We’re not looking for God and we’re playing for the other team. That’s a pretty. bleak outlook.

However, there is good news! Verse four assaults us with two of the best words in all of Scripture: “But God.” We’re on the wrong team, but God is rich in mercy and he loves us! This is incredible news. We are following the prince of the power of the air, but God is rich in mercy.

“How rich?” you may ask. Verse five tells us while we were dead in sin, God makes us alive with Christ! He shows us grace and gives us what we don’t deserve. He makes us alive! He takes our dead heart and gives us a beating heart.

God is so rich that he lavishes his grace upon us. He doesn’t just make us janitors that are keeping things tidy in heaven. He doesn’t do the minimum. He does the maximum! To show the immeasurable riches of his grace in Christ, he seats us with Christ in the heavenly places. This is lavish grace and mercy indeed!

To be seated with the Son is more than any of us could ask or imagine. This truth is life giving. This is heart healing. It is soul satisfying truth.

None of us can imagine the horrors of hell, but that is exactly what we deserve. Our worst day on Earth is still better than the best day in hell. But God is rich in mercy. But God loves us! But God sent Christ to make us alive and save us by grace! But God seats us with his Son to show us his immeasurable riches and kindness.

There is nothing better than this.
