Brace yourself. This is another review where I will start with page edges. Only recently have I started doing this, but Bible manufacturers keep forcing me to do it. I actually wanted to review this Bible because of the page edges… oh… and it’s blue. I’m a sucker for blue Bibles.
When it comes to Bibles, I don’t think I’ve met a perfect one. People often talk about finding “the one”, but I think it’s a myth. It doesn’t exist. However, the NKJV Single-Column Wide Margin Reference Bible is very close to what I could find myself calling “the one.” However, it falls short in a couple of ways. Let’s take a closer look.
I’m going to start this review with a controversial statement. The Humble Lamb Shepherd in Lunar Yellow should be the only option. This Bible will turn heads. It’s that good, deep yellow and not the light, ugly yellow. It has black accents and art gilt! It has it all in my opinion.
There’s truly nothing like a nice goatkskin Bible. Even more, there’s nothing like a nice goatskin Bible with a great layout! You’re going to get all of that and more from Thomas Nelson in the new NKJV Maclaren goatskin edition.
I’ve become a huge fan of Bible Journals for a lot of different reasons. I think they are incredibly useful and underrated. Thomas Nelson makes truly beautiful Bible Journals. Their design is awesome and they make them in sets that allow you to buy several at once without having to commit to an entire Old Testament or New Testament set. This makes their sets affordable as well. I’m reviewing the set that includes the Epistles and Revelation. Let’s take a look at them.
I’ve been a long-time fan of the Cambridge Topaz. Originally, it was released in the ESV, and I was pretty quick to herald it as the best ESV Bible in print. Even now, I may still give it that title. The folks at Cambridge Bibles realized that it just wouldn’t be fair to keep all the goodness packed in the Topaz exclusive to the ESV lovers out there so they have now released it in the New King James Version. The NKJV Topaz brings with it a green goatskin option and a couple of options in calf-split leather. Today, I have the pleasure of reviewing the NKJV Topaz in black goatskin. Let’s see if the Topaz lives up to the hype in the New King James Version.
No matter what translation your church uses, if you’re a preacher, a good preaching Bible is a must. Typically, I think a good preaching Bible utilizes a verse-by-verse format. Some folks like preaching from a paragraph edition and others who are just reading like verse-by-verse. One size doesn’t fit all, but either way, the NKJV Preaching Bible from Thomas Nelson that I’m reviewing today is worth your attention…
I’m pretty sure the first Study Bible I ever received was a MacArthur. It was a NASB that I still have and have even still referenced recently. Dr. MacArthur and his wisdom are a gift to the church.
