Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The Humble Lamb NKJV Shepherd Edge-Lined

The Humble Lamb NKJV Shepherd Edge-Lined

I’m going to start this review with a controversial statement. The Humble Lamb Shepherd in Lunar Yellow should be the only option. This Bible will turn heads. It’s that good, deep yellow and not the light, ugly yellow. It has black accents and art gilt! It has it all in my opinion.

This Bible is fantastic. It’s the new NKJV Shepherd Edge-lined from Humble Lamb. I got the Lunar Yellow with black under gold art gilt. It really is the best combination in my opinion even though I know there are those who will disagree.

The yellow goatskin on this Bible is beautiful and eye catching. It’s the yellow I really like that look rich like a sunflower. The leather grain pops thanks to the yellow. It’s soft and supple. It feels great.

I also love the spine of this Bible. It’s one thing Humble Lamb does that makes me look at their Bibles and say, “I want that!” It has four raised hubs and in black written horizontally are the words, “THE WORD OF GOD.” It’s so simple, but it’s really a mic drop. Other publishers should take note. What Humble Lamb does on their edge-lined spine is a statement piece.

The black accents set this Bible off! It boasts three black Berisford ribbons, black head and tail bands, a black calfskin liner, and black under gold art gilt. You can also get this Bible with the fore-edge option on the page edges, but I personally don’t think you should. The black under gold art gilt is awesome!

Also awesome is the black goatskin liner. It has a gold perimeter gilt line. In the top left corner in gold is written “SHEPHERD” and “NEW KING JAMES VERSION”. The bottom left in gold has “Humble Lamb” along with their logo. The black and gold is just a winning combination and Humble Lamb has taken full advantage in this edition.

The Bible boasts a 32 gsm Ivory Bible paper. Ghosting is very minimal. It is set in a single column with references in the outer margin of each page. The font is a 9 point Milo type. Accent colors are in a nice blue color. Also interesting is that the words of Christ are in blue. This is almost a royal blue color and I love this choice. I don’t know why they decided to do this, but I like it so much better than the words of Christ being in red! I think it actually adds a certain beauty to the page.

Interestingly, this Bible features 66 illustrations within it from Gustave Doré. This is a feature I can honestly take or leave. The addition of illustrations doesn’t do much for me, but I know some will appreciate it. It also features a concordance and 14 full color maps.

I love this Bible. I don’t mind saying it. The yellow with the black is so stunning. It’s a statement piece. You’d do well to pick up any version of the Shepherd, but I love the yellow. It’s currently sold out, but you should head to their site right now and email them asking for a second printing!

You can pick up your copy of the Humble Lamb Shepherd here.
