The Valley of Vision Bound in Goatskin

The Valley of Vision almost needs no introduction. It’s a collection of Puritan prayers that is a long-time favorite for many including myself. Many people have used this collection devotionally and to aid in their own prayer life. These prayers are theologically rich, deep, beautiful, and inspiring. Up until very recently, you could get a copy of the The Valley of Vision in paperback or bonded leather. These prayers have become such a treasure to so many that it was only fitting for them to be bound in something that could withstand the frequent use the volume is sure to receive. When Banner of Truth announced The Valley of Vision was releasing in both genuine leather and goatskin, those of us who love these prayers couldn’t contain our excitement. I’m excited to have received a copy of the goatskin edition of The Valley of Vision from Westminster Books in exchange for a fair and honest review. You can’t beat the service Westminster Books will provide you and I wholeheartedly recommend you purchase this title from them…

The NASB Journal the Word Reference Bible

I love journaling Bibles. They are the only Bible I will write in. The ESV has had the market for journaling Bibles for a long time, but that is changing and it’s great news! Every translation should have a journaling Bible option and that is becoming more and more the case. The newest offering is from Zondervan and the NASB translation finally has a journaling Bible!

The Crossway ESV Preaching Bible Verse-by-Verse Edition Review

I’ve been waiting for this Bible for a long time. I heard about it early in the year and I’ve been anticipating it ever since. The ESV Preaching Bible Verse-by-Verse edition is a single-column verse-by-verse ESV from Crossway. Crossway produced a single column verse-by-verse edition of the ESV back in 2011 and it went out of print and has been somewhat of a unicorn in the Bible community. People have been eagerly anticipating the return of a similar format. Does it live up to the hype?

The Thomas Nelson NKJV Preaching Bible

No matter what translation your church uses, if you’re a preacher, a good preaching Bible is a must. Typically, I think a good preaching Bible utilizes a verse-by-verse format. Some folks like preaching from a paragraph edition and others who are just reading like verse-by-verse. One size doesn’t fit all, but either way, the NKJV Preaching Bible from Thomas Nelson that I’m reviewing today is worth your attention…

The Crossway Heirloom Single Column Personal Size Bible

I won’t lie. I’m a fan of most everything Crossway does. They’ve gotten some pushback after moving their premium production to China, but by-in-large, I’ve still been a fan. One Bible that I’ve seen taking a lot of shots is the Heirloom Single Column Personal Size Bible. I think a lot of the hate going Crossway’s way has been undue so I wanted to form an opinion for myself on this Bible. Thanks to my partner, Westminster Books, I’m bringing you this review today.

The Best Gift Ever Given by Ronnie Martin

It’s the Christmas season and I’m searching far and wide for good Christmas resources for you and your family! Today I’m reviewing an Advent devotional for children and families that I really wanted to get my hands on last year, but finally got ahold of this year. This one may have flown under the radar a little bit, but I think it’s a great option for your family if you’ve got young children like I do.

Hoping for Happiness by Barnabas Piper

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I don’t think Barnabas Piper intended for his new book, Hoping for Happiness, to be as timely as it is. However, in God’s sovereignty, this is a book that 2020 really needed. In fact, I hope you’ll pick up a copy because you don’t just need this book for 2020—this is a constant reminder you need in your life.

My wife and I have experienced miscarriage. It is so difficult and so hard. Unfortunately, many people don’t talk about it so it can also feel so lonely. We’ve chosen to be vocal about our miscarriage because God can bring beauty out of our brokenness. Because we’ve shared, people contact us to talk when it happens to them. God has used this as a ministry in our lives and we are grateful he redeems the broken things of this world…
