Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

Cling to Christ

Cling to Christ

Life is hard. I’ve heard several things people are going through in the past several days and all I can think is that life is hard. Difficult, painful, and tragic things happen to all of us. If they have not happened yet, they surely will. Some of them are self-induced. Other things we will fall victim to. Either way, we will encounter hard things.

When we hear of or experience hard things in life, it should be a sobering reminder for us to cling to Christ. It should be a reminder that we can’t coast. We can’t get comfortable and we shouldn’t get comfortable. This world is not meant for our comfort, but for us to be diligent in following Christ and showing others how to do the same. He is our only hope and our only comfort.

I know that I can find myself getting comfortable here or starting to coast. I can find myself skipping my time with Lord for a day or two. I can get comfortable in marriage and quit pursuing my wife’s heart. I can find myself getting prideful or arrogant in my doctrine and being negligent to my devotion. It’s easy to put life on cruise control.

Join me in being reminded that we’re not here to cruise or coast. We’re not here to indulge in life’s every pleasure. We’re not here to serve ourselves and be our own gods.

Instead, we’ve been saved by a gracious God who commands total loyalty and devotion. He commands us to live with a war-time mentality, not relaxed, but ready for action. Jesus came to seek and save the lost then after His resurrection claimed all power and authority telling His disciples (including me and you) to go and make disciples of all nations.

When life is hard, we must cling to Christ. We must remember what He endured to purchase us for Himself. We must show others who don’t know Christ that the only hope when hard things happen is Christ. In eternity, life won’t be hard. There will be no more tears, sorrow, or pain. For now, let’s allow pain to push us closer to Jesus and remind us that He is everything.
