Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

The Christian Standard Bible is one of the newest Bible translations out there, but that does not mean there isn't a wealth of nice Bible options to choose from. While they still don't have premium Bible options like other translations, there are still very nice Bibles on the market. The one I will you show in this review is one of my favorites.

I'm reviewing the CSB Single Column Personal Size Bible. I think there are several things that play into making this one of the nicest CSB's on the market as of now. You can get this Bible with several different cover styles including a brown, smooth leather. I'm reviewing a Tan LeatherTouch that features a black accent patch on the middle of the spine that wraps around to part of the cover. While it is not the version of this Bible that has the nicest materials and features, I did find it to be one of the most unique and attractive.

As stated, this Bible is a LeatherTouch. It feels nice in the hand, but I can't comment on the longevity of LeatherTouch as I have not truly put one through it's paces as a daily carry. The spine has the CSB logo embossed at the top and HOLMAN embossed on the bottom. In the middle, written in gold you have the words HOLY BIBLE and CHRISTIAN STANDARD BIBLE underneath. The black patch also has a gold perimeter stitching, which I think is attractive. The page edges are gold, which pulls the look of the Bible all together. Inside you'll find a black paper liner. This Bible has Smyth-sewn binding, which is a nice feature. It also has one, dark brown bookmark.

This Bible warrants your money though because of the text block. It's single-column, black-letter text, and a 10 point font. That checks all the right boxes for me. Each line averages about 12-15 words meaning they aren't trying to cram too much in there. There is minimal ghosting and honestly it looks like the text could be line-matched although nothing I read claims that to be the case. There are footnotes at the bottom. There is a concordance in the back. In the back, you'll also find about 8 blank pages to write notes, which I think is a really nice feature. There are also some maps at the end.

Conclusion

All in all, what makes this Bible so attractive to me is that it is a nice single-column setting at an attractive price. As of this writing, you can purchase this Bible on Lifeway's website for $27.99. That is not a bad price at all. The Bible is thick, but not too thick and it's height and width (8.5 x 5.38) really do feel like a personal size. Also, if you were looking for a Bible to get rebound in premium materials, this is the one I'd recommend. If you're considering a CSB, you have a lot of good options, but make sure you seriously consider this one because Holman has created an excellent Bible at an excellent price.

You can find the CSB Single Column Personal Size Bible on Amazon.
