Welcome to my blog. I mostly write about Christian Living, but I enjoy the Kentucky Wildcats, New Orleans Saints, and a good cup of coffee.

You may know the name Ellie Holcomb, but mostly likely it’s not from her children’s books.
“I like Jesus, but I don’t like the church,” is what I used to say. “I’m a Christian, but my relationship with Jesus is personal.” Back when I was in high school and college, I was heavily into the Christian rock scene.
In my previous blog post regarding late term abortion in New York, I pressed the question of why stop with babies in the womb? I didn’t expect someone to be so forthright so soon, but it would appear the governor of Virginia is trying to one-up New York.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about people who are straight shooters. Everyone knows that type of person, right? These are people who say whatever is on their mind and aren’t really too concerned about your reaction. These people can be very polarizing—you either love them or hate them. To a degree, I’ve always envied them and desired to be a little more like them.
At this point it has well been reported that New York has passed a bill that will allow the murder of babies as long as they’re in the womb. One month or nine months makes no difference to them. They are no longer trying to hide the fact that they are ok with the killing of babies so long as they aren’t outside of the womb.
Sunday evening I was running a student ministry event so I didn’t end up getting to watch the Saints game. I usually try to avoid the score and watch the game later, but I ended up finding out the result and hearing about the devastating loss. I really believed we were going to the Superbowl this year and my mind has been everywhere since. Here are some things I’ve thought since in trying to process this brutal loss.
A theme that I constantly see recurring on social media is that of self care. It’s the thought that I need to take care of me before I can take care of others. I need to make sure I’m good before I can worry about anyone else.
There are no perfect parents. We all know this, right? Parenting is so hard. I ask myself if I’m making the right decision about something involving my kids at least five times a day. I get frustrated with my kids at least 300 times a day.
Planned Parenthood is such a misunderstood organization. Say anything about defunding them and you will certainly have people objecting against you arguing that you are taking away women’s rights to healthcare (as if there is nowhere else to go). They will also typically argue that abortion is a very small part of their business and what they’re concerned about…
Clemson football is a big headline today. The Tigers won the College Football Championship last night handily beating Alabama 44-16. Although not in the same conference, the Crimson Tide and Tigers have met each other so often in championships they could almost be considered rivals. One aspect of Clemson that stands out for Christians is their head coach Dabo Swinney.
